Do you want to see what a group of clinically insane people look like? Check out Dr. Maxtor’s Youtube link to the Christians United for Israel conference. Our Lord, may You pour down your patience upon us, keep our steps firm and help us against the unbelievers. Watch it with a doggy bag.
Many congrats to Brother Saifuddin on his bayah to the Nashqbandi tariqa. He also has an announcement for the latest Carnival of Islam in the West.
Tariq Nelson has linked to an article on Black Men and the importance of fatherhood.
Please keep Brother Yusuf in your duas as he’s dealing with a death in the family and some other troubling events.
Manrilla talks about how African-Americans shouldn’t wait for the Don Imus types to address social pathologies in our communities. Also, many congrats on his latest show.
Our favorite cosmophile (hah, it sounds dirty) Shaykh JD has a beautiful pic of Mars including a new blog dedicated to those wonderful astral bodies. Dude, you’re making me what to get a telescope and read books about astronomy. I used to be into astronomy as a child but I don’t know what happened. But on a serious note, he has another post about the current Vatican’s leadership and their obvious paranoia and hatred for Islam. I guess as far as they’re concerned, hating the Jews isn’t in vogue anymore.
They don’t post often but when they do, it’s worth it. The brothers over at The Building have an entry on Wafaa Bilal, the Art Institute of Chicago professor who decided to put himself in harms way by placing himself in the life of fire in Iraq.
Osama Saeed is keeping tabs on what looks like the making of what will be called the Lal Masjid massacre.
Brother Amad over at Muslim Matters has an entry on the growing trend of pornography and its effects on the marriages of Muslims. May God protect us. I took a class on postmodern culture and we studied pornography extensively. One day, I’ll write because all of our society’s hangups, racism, misygony and greed are all there displayed in a cheap glossy porno mag.
Shaykh Faraz Rabbani has an interesting link on the marriage of Canadian and Islamic architecture. These wooden domes are very lovely.
Subhan’Allah, Brother Yursil has so many good things on his blog that I don’t know where to begin. So, read On Affirmation of Knowledge and his link to a translated work by Muhtar Holland, the Attributes of the Believers.
Now for the sisters!
Dervish features an article on a those who leave Islam for Christianity and then return to Islam.
Leena has another Max Blumenthal hit called Generation Chickenhawks. Oh yeah, it’s okay if poor folks fight your wars for you, isn’t it?!?!?!?
McPagal has a great post and cartoon on the various hijabi styles in the umma. Personally, I think I’m a skirty hijabi.
Read Aaminah’s interview with Mr. Visual Dhikr himself, Ruh al Alam.
Umm Ibrahim has an entry on blogs and how they can empower Muslim women.
and Umm Zee muses on Islamic womanhood.

Walaikum salaam chicks!
Aaminah: No problem. I had to pull myself away from the computer. Too much interesting stuff going on!
McPagal: No problemo. I DO love that cartoon.

Thanks for the links. Astronomy has been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember. In my childhood I wanted to be an astronaut (in the worst way), and as an idealistic teenager I wanted to be an astronomer. Even took two college courses in it, breezing through the course for non-majors but getting smoked in the freshman major’s course (they didn’t tell us we really needed to be well grounded in physics and calculus at the time
). A couple of books I’ve read in recent years (and months) brought the Mars bug out in me
, and I thought I’d give a try at writing up an “extraterrestrial photoblog.” I wish writing for my regular blog was as easy as writing up the posts for Areology is.

As-Salaamu ‘alaikum,
Thanks for the link and the du’a. Lee’s post-mortem results came through yesterday; it turned out to be sudden death caused by asthma. He was my cousin’s husband and those closer to him knew about his asthma but I didn’t.
It’s terribly sad. I didn’t see him all the time, but he was at every family party and I always got on with him really well. I was with her and my aunt yesterday, and she is just facing up to doing everything alone that she had previously done with him. She was very distressed by the whole situation yesterday.
